The journey then leads beyond the city to explore the extraordinary archaeological complexes that preserve the memory of the Empire: Sacsayhuamán, with its colossal stone walls; Q’enqo, a ceremonial centre carved into rock; Puka Pukara, an ancient access control post during the Inca period; and Tambomachay, known as the Temple of Water for its elegant fountains and aqueducts.
