DAY 1
3:00 AM – Hotel Pick-up in Arequipa
The journey begins with pick-up from accommodation in Arequipa, followed by an early-morning drive towards the Colca Valley.

5:50 AM – Arrival in Chivay & Breakfast
Upon arrival in Chivay, breakfast is served at a local restaurant before the journey continues towards Colca Canyon.
7:00 AM – Maca Village
A stop is made in the traditional village of Maca, known for its colonial-era church, local handicrafts, and views of the surrounding Andean landscape.

7:45 AM – Antahuilque Viewpoint
The Antahuilque viewpoint offers panoramic views of extensive agricultural terraces across the slopes of the Colca Valley, reflecting centuries of Andean farming traditions.

8:35 AM – Cruz del Cóndor
The journey continues to Cruz del Cóndor, one of the most important viewpoints in Colca Canyon. Morning thermal currents often provide favourable conditions for observing Andean condors soaring above the cliffs.

9:15 AM – Transfer to San Miguel Trailhead
A short transfer continues to San Miguel, the starting point for the trek into Colca Canyon.

9:30 AM – Descent into Colca Canyon
The trek begins with an approximately 4-hour descent into the canyon. The trail offers extensive views of the surrounding mountains and river before reaching the village of San Juan de Chuccho.
1:30 PM – Lunch in San Juan de Chuccho
A traditional lunch prepared with local ingredients is served in San Juan de Chuccho before the trek continues through the canyon.
2:30 PM – Trek to Sangalle Oasis
The afternoon continues with an approximately 3-hour trek towards Sangalle Oasis. The route passes through changing canyon landscapes before descending to the vegetation and settlements of the lower valley.
5:00 PM – Arrival in Sangalle & Room Assignment
Upon arrival in Sangalle, accommodation is assigned and time is provided for rest after the day’s trek.
8:00 PM – Dinner in Sangalle
Dinner is served at the accommodation in Sangalle, with a simple meal prepared for the trekking group.

9:30 PM – Overnight in Sangalle
The night is spent in basic shared accommodation in Sangalle Oasis before an early start the following morning.
DAY 2
4:00 AM – Hike from Sangalle to Cabanaconde
The second day begins with a challenging ascent of approximately 4 hours and 30 minutes from Sangalle to Cabanaconde, climbing from the canyon floor to the upper valley.
8:30 AM – Arrival in Cabanaconde & Breakfast
Upon arrival in Cabanaconde, breakfast is served and time is provided for rest before the journey continues.
9:15 AM – Transfer from Cabanaconde to Chivay
The journey continues by road towards Chivay, with scenic stops along the Colca Valley depending on the route and conditions.
10:35 AM – Optional Visit to the Hot Springs
An optional visit to the natural thermal waters of the Colca Valley is available after the trek. The entrance ticket is not included and must be purchased separately.
12:00 PM – Arrival in Chivay & Optional Lunch
Upon arrival in Chivay, an optional buffet lunch is available at a local restaurant before the onward journey begins.
1:00 PM – Departure for Arequipa or Puno
The standard journey continues towards Arequipa through the high-altitude landscapes of southern Peru. An optional transfer to Puno is also available.
1:30 PM – Patapampa Pass (4,900 metres / 16,000 feet)
A stop is made at the highest point of the route, offering panoramic views of the surrounding volcanic range, including Misti, Chachani, and Ampato.
2:30 PM – Salinas & Aguada Blanca National Reserve
A brief stop is made in this protected high-Andean area, where native wildlife including vicuñas, llamas, and alpacas can often be observed.
5:00 PM / 7:00 PM – Estimated Arrival in Arequipa or Puno
The standard tour concludes in Arequipa at approximately 5:00 PM. When the optional transfer to Puno is selected, the journey continues with an estimated arrival at approximately 7:00 PM.

ABOUT ACCOMMODATION IN COLCA CANYON ON DAY 1 ○ Accommodation consists of a basic private room with private bathroom facilities. The room type must be specified by the traveler at the time of booking. ○ Private rooms can be arranged for an additional fee, subject to availability and room type. The additional cost typically ranges from USD 27 to USD 30 per room. Requests for private accommodation can be arranged after the booking has been completed. ○ Accommodation in Sangalle is simple and reflects the remote location inside Colca Canyon. Facilities therefore differ considerably from those of a conventional hotel.
ABOUT THE ADDITIONAL TRANSFER TO PUNO ○ There is an additional cost of 32 USD per person, which can be selected when completing the reservation (Additional Services). ○ Please note that if this option is selected, the group may be split into two: one part of the group will return to Arequipa, while the other will continue to the city of Puno.
ABOUT THE COLCA CANYON ENTRANCE TICKET ○ The Colca Canyon entrance ticket is required for all visitors participating in the 2-day tour. Revenue from ticket sales contributes to the maintenance and conservation of the Colca Valley and its visitor infrastructure. ○ The entrance ticket can be added during the booking process or purchased in cash on the day of the excursion.
ABOUT THE HOT SPRINGS ENTRANCE TICKET ○ The visit to the hot springs is optional and is not included in the standard tour price. ○ The entrance ticket can be added during the booking process or purchased in cash on the day of the excursion.
ABOUT THE INCLUDED MEALS ○ Due to the remote location within the canyon, meals are simple and nourishing, prepared mainly with local products such as potatoes, regional vegetables, and cereals. Vegetarian options can be arranged with prior notice.
ABOUT LUNCH ON DAY 2 ○ Lunch on Day 2 is not included. An optional buffet lunch is available in Chivay and can be added during the booking process or paid for directly at the restaurant.

CHANGES, CANCELLATIONS AND REFUND POLICIES 1.- CHANGE OF TRAVEL DATE ○ Changes to the travel date are accepted up to 24 hours before the scheduled start of the activity. 2.- CANCELLATIONS ○ Cancellations requested at least 24 hours before the scheduled activity are eligible for a full refund. ○ Cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled activity are non-refundable. ○ In cases of force majeure, including strikes, social unrest, natural disasters, or other circumstances beyond the control of the company or the traveler, a refund may be considered.
